Football Recap: Wyatt Brosious' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bloomsburg over Southern Columbia Area

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Bloomsburg couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 41-21 to the Southern Columbia Area Tigers on Friday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Bloomsburg lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Wyatt Brosious, who threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made ten total tackles. 106 of Brosious' passing yards were hauled in by Jharee Moore-Stewart.

Southern Columbia Area's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Andrews led the charge by rushing for 60 yards and one TD on only seven carries, while also picking up 37 receiving yards and one score. Andrews also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack, making five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass. Another passer making a difference was Ayden Hockenbroch, who threw for 146 yards and one touchdown on only ten passes.

Bloomsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Southern Columbia Area, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Bloomsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern Columbia Area, they will square off against Troy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten contests.
