Baseball Recap: Neumann-Goretti Comes Up Short

Neumann-Goretti had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 10-11-1 to make it five. They came up short against the Bermudian Springs Eagles, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Saints couldn't push the score so high this time.

Neumann-Goretti got a good showing from Steven Vanore, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Vanore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Neumann-Goretti saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mario Valais, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

As for Bermudian Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

On Bermudian Springs' side, Branson Diller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Lane Hubbard was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jasxyn Stottlemyer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Neumann-Goretti nor Bermudian Springs have any future games scheduled.
