Baseball Game Preview: Veterans Memorial Chargers vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears

Veterans Memorial is 0-3 against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo since March of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Chargers will look to defend their home field against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Veterans Memorial, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Veterans Memorial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over San Benito.

Max Gonzalez and Anthony Rocha did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Rocha went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Vela, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's defeat dropped their record down to 25-3-1. As for Veterans Memorial, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-14.

Veterans Memorial couldn't quite get it done against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo when the teams last played back in March as they fell 14-9. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
