Softball Game Preview: North Myrtle Beach Chiefs vs. Berkeley Stags

The North Myrtle Beach Chiefs will head out to square off against the Berkeley Stags at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Myrtle Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, it was close, but North Myrtle Beach sidestepped Chapin for a 6-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chiefs.

The team relied heavily on Izzy Fitzgerald, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadley Leonhardt, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

North Myrtle Beach hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Berkeley had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Bengals. The Stags might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 contests by six runs or more this season.

Berkeley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for North Myrtle Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 17-11.
