Softball Recap: Mankato West's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mankato West waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the St. Peter Saints. That's more bragging rights for the Scarlets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Evelyn Erickson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Lydia Banse was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Mankato West's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for St. Peter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mankato West will square off against Belle Plaine at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Peter, they will head out to take on Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
