It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monticello had no problem doing just that on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 38-37 victory over the Pinnacle Panthers. The Buckaroo didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Monticello's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makenna Peterson led the charge by going 6-for-13 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Those seven assists gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylee Freestone, who posted 15 points.

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Pinnacle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Monticello will square off against Rich at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rich will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Monticello surely won't give up without a fight. Pinnacle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
