Baseball Recap: Capital Golden Eagles vs. Owyhee Storm

Suggested Video

Capital had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it five. They came up short against the Owyhee Storm, falling 8-2. If the Golden Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Storm when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Capital saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Call, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Call has hit this season.

As for Owyhee, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-1. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Owyhee's side, Heath Sasser-Gunson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sasser-Gunson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Haws, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Easton Price, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Capital is set to take on their familiar foe Ridgevue at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Owyhee will challenge rival Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Storm 2.6, the Patriots 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
