After flying high against Banner County two weeks ago, Wauneta-Palisade came back down to earth. The Wauneta-Palisade Broncos fell 35-27 to the Paxton Tigers on Friday. The Broncos have struggled against the Tigers recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Wauneta-Palisade saw an underclassman step up: Kreyton Wiese rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Those 185 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Wiese.

Wauneta-Palisade's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Paxton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

It'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when Broncos challenges Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
