The Herriman Mustangs will take on the Riverton Silverwolves at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Herriman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Syracuse as they made off with a 13-1 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Ashlyn Beratto tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaylee Hansen, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Lancaster, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Herriman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Riverton never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Layton. Winning may never get old, but the Silverwolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Kaelyn Flynn looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Grace Leary and Camryn O'Farrell did most of the damage at the plate: Leary went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while O'Farrell went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Maggie Hamblin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Herriman's record is now 19-10. As for Riverton, their record now sits at 26-4.
Herriman came out on top in a nail-biter against Riverton when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silverwolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
