Softball Recap: St. Anthony Has No Trouble Against Farina South Central

St. Anthony won the last time they faced Farina South Central and things went their way on Monday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

St. Anthony let Ava Walton and Ady Rios run wild. Walton scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Rios scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. What's more, Walton posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackie Vonderheide, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

St. Anthony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farina South Central only posted a batting average of .269.

The win made it two in a row for St. Anthony and bumps their season record up to 6-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Farina South Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Anthony will host Newton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Farina South Central, they will face off against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
