Basketball Recap: Wylie East Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Wylie East won against Rowlett last Tuesday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Wylie East Raiders walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Garland Owls. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-47 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Garland saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zoe Sample went 8 of 17 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sample has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mahedia Koko, who posted three points and four steals.

Wylie East has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Garland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-17.

Wylie East is taking a road trip to challenge Wylie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive. As for Garland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Garland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
