Softball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Lions vs. Midland Christian Mustangs

For the second straight game, Trinity Christian will face off against Midland Christian. The Lions will square off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Christian has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trinity Christian came up short against Midland Christian on Tuesday, falling 20-1. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Midland Christian's part, Maddy Munoz made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Munoz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Midland Christian let Nevaeh Williams and Ilyssa Foisy run wild. Williams went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and three doubles, while Foisy scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs Williams has posted since back in April of 2024. Macey Wilson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Midland Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Midland Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Trinity Christian, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.
