Basketball Recap: Kelsie Hadeen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Holyoke

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Burlington, Haxtun was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 46-35 victory over the Holyoke Dragons. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 47-34 two weeks ago.

Haxtun got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsie Hadeen out in front who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Hadeen a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jayleigh Bullard, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and eight boards.

Haxtun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 35 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Holyoke lost, don't look at Ellie Kleve. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 11 en route to 15 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Sporhase, who posted nine points.

Haxtun's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8. As for Holyoke, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
