The Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 34-12 loss at the hands of Carver. Winston-Salem Prep has struggled against Carver recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Carver can attribute much of their success to Antonio Samuels, who rushed for 62 yards and four touchdowns.
Winston-Salem Prep's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Carver, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
Winston-Salem Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Carver will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Heritage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carver in North Carolina (Mountain Heritage is ranked 125th, while Carver is ranked 329th).
