Basketball Recap: Reese Wilborn Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Newton

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Andover Central's strategy against Newton on Thursday. The Andover Central Jaguars strolled past the Newton Railroaders with points to spare, taking the game 59-40. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd in Kansas, while the Railroaders are ranked 282nd in Kansas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andover Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reese Wilborn out in front who posted 17 points and three steals. Wilborn continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylin Tabor, who put up 14 points along with five boards and three steals.

Andover Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Newton is on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-19.
