Recap: Hanover Hornets vs. Stratton Eagles
The Hanover Hornets and the Stratton Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Hanover Hornets had to settle for second. Hanover took a serious blow against Stratton, falling 56-16. Hanover was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-0.
Although Hanover took the loss, they still got scores from David Byers and Tanner Lindsey.
Stratton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charlie Tagtmeyer, who threw for 46 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Cyler Notter, who gained 34 total yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Hanover to a paltry 72 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Stratton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out three times before it was all said and done. Notter was especially locked on to Hanover's QB and sacked him twice.
Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Stratton, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Hanover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stratton will be playing at home against Sierra Grande at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sierra Grande is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
