Baseball Game Preview: Montachusett RVT Bulldogs vs. St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians

The Montachusett RVT Bulldogs will head out to challenge the St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Montachusett RVT is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Montachusett RVT will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Worcester Tech, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs walked away with an 11-7 win over the Eagles on Thursday.

Meanwhile, St. Bernard's Central Catholic gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Trivium by a score of 4-1.

Jonathan Quigley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Bernard's Central Catholic is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, St. Bernard's Central Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was CJ Pelissier, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Ethan Lewis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Montachusett RVT took their win against St. Bernard's Central Catholic in their previous matchup last Wednesday by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
