Basketball Recap: Hellgate Wins High-Profile Contest Against Helena

On Thursday, Hellgate faced Helena in a battle between two of the state's top teams. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Hellgate Knights made off with a 67-66 victory over the Helena Bengals. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Bengals back in January, they had to take a 62-50 loss.

Hellgate was led to victory by Zane Gillhouse and Easton Sant. Gillhouse went 6-for-10 to rack up 21 points, while Sant posted 17 points and seven assists. Sant's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Evan Pyron was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Hellgate pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Helena, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Hellgate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-35 victory against Capital on the 15th. Helena has also already played their next game (against Sentinel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
