Soccer Game Preview: Mendota vs. Yosemite

The Mendota Aztecs will take on the Yosemite Badgers in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mendota is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.9 goals per game this season.

If Yosemite heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Mendota took over last week. Mendota put the hurt on Riverdale with a sharp 4-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won four matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Riverdale with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Wilberto Amador (2), Neri Arteaga, and Erlin Gomez.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Yosemite was a bit more limited in their contest last Tuesday. They came up short against Clovis, falling 11-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Badgers were already down 8-0.

Mendota pushed their record up to 8-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three games. As for Yosemite, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2-1.

Everything went Mendota's way against Yosemite in their previous matchup back in January, as Mendota made off with an 8-1 victory. Will Mendota repeat their success, or does Yosemite have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
