MaxPreps has identified the top 25 athletic programs in the nation in the MaxPreps Cup standings. Now we provide the top program in each state.

Point values are accumulated by teams that finish first or second in a state championship competition (or whatever the highest level of competition is for that sport in that state). Points are also awarded based on the enrollment level of the competition and the type of sport. Programs also receive points for being listed as a top 25 team in the national rankings for that particular sport.
