Basketball Recap: Chesterton Skates Past Kankakee Valley with Ease

Chesterton hadn't done well against Kankakee Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Chesterton Trojans simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Kankakee Valley Kougars 62-23. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 24 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kenedi Bradley, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsi Mcguffey, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 15 points.

Chesterton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Kankakee Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Olivia Adams, who posted six points and ten rebounds, and Mallorie Rose, who had six points. Adams has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times she's played.

Chesterton pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Kankakee Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Chesterton will host Valparaiso at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valparaiso is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.1 points per game this season. As for Kankakee Valley, they will head out to challenge Benton Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
