Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westlake). Everything went their way against the Mountain Crest Mustangs on Saturday as the Westlake Thunder made off with a 13-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Ryan Pead was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kinzie Bailey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.
Westlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Crest only posted an OBP of .167.
Westlake's record now sits at 4-1. As for Mountain Crest, they dropped their record down to 3-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Coming up, Westlake will square off against Orem at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Westlake's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Orem's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mountain Crest, they will face off against Green Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
