Baseball Recap: Independence Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Independence owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Hoover Huskies. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Chance Moore tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Independence is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Cole Cunningham was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Independence's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-10-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Independence will head out on the road to square off against Midland Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hoover, they will be playing at home against Winfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
