As reported by several media outlets last week, Ohio State could be looking to
Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio) quarterback
Braxton Miller to step in for the Buckeyes next fall.
Five Ohio State players must sit out the first five games of the 2011 season for selling awards, gifts and university apparel and receiving improper benefits in 2009, according to the university which cited an NCAA ruling.
Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is among the five players that must sit out the first five games of the 2011 season, according to the university. Pryor is the most high-profiled player of the group.
The
Dayton Daily News reported Miller could be in the Buckeyes' lineup as soon as the Scarlet and Gray spring game or even the 2011 season opener against Akron.
Miller,
who is rated the nation's No. 1 high school quarterback in the 2011 class, told the publication he originally wanted to learn from Pryor for his freshman season.
"I come in with a different mindset now," Miller told the Dayton Daily News.
Miller, who led Wayne to the Division I state finals this season in Stark County, graduated from Wayne in December and will begin classes at Ohio State on Jan. 3, according to the Dayton Daily News.
While Ohio State has other quarterbacks that would be in competition for the starting quarterback position next season, Miller will definitely have the spotlight on him this spring and summer.
"I've got to come in level-headed and work hard," Miller told the Dayton Daily News. "There's a couple (other quarterbacks) there. I'll just keep a level head because you never know what might happen."
