Soccer Game Preview: Menendez vs. Taylor

The Menendez Falcons will face off against the Taylor Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Menendez is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against West Nassau on Friday. Menendez came up short against West Nassau, falling 6-2. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Warriors are ranked 146th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylor). Their defense stepped up to hand Atlantic a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Taylor hit Atlantic with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ava Castro (2), Shaelynn Villafuerte, Mariana Galarza, and Hannah Renteria.

Taylor's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Menendez, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Menendez took their victory against Taylor when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Menendez repeat their success, or does Taylor have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
