Baseball Recap: Varnum Victorious

On Friday Varnum's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Hydro-Eakly Bobcats.

Varnum's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Cooper, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Cooper has posted since back in April of 2025. Another was Chance Winsett, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Varnum was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Varnum's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Hydro-Eakly, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Varnum is taking a road trip to square off against Konawa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hydro-Eakly, they will welcome Riverside Indian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
