Baseball Game Preview: Rocky River Pirates vs. Avon Lake Shoremen

The Rocky River Pirates will take on the Avon Lake Shoremen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Rocky River sitting on five straight wins and Avon Lake on three.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Rocky River and Valley Forge had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Pirates blew past the Patriots 9-2 on Friday. The Pirates not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28th (when they won 13-1).

Meanwhile, Avon Lake beat Fairview 7-2 on Friday.

Nate Haven was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Isaac Soloff was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Avon Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted an OBP of .323.

Avon Lake's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Rocky River, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
