League recap: La Salle tops Cantwell-Sacred Heart to extend winning streak

La Salle extended the longest winning streak in Del Rey this week by beating Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 61-30. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

La Salle took down the Cardinals 61-30 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Wallis threw for 125 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Jacob Rock was the best wideout in the league this week as Cantwell-Sacred Heart lost to Russell Gordon's team. Rock tallied seven receptions for 101 yards. Joseph Henriquez helped Cantwell-Sacred Heart's passing attack out by catching three balls for 77 yards.

Timothy Walsh provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Kim Taylor's team fell to the Lancers. He completed 16 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 114 yards.

Isreal Lacy was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 11 carries as La Salle lost to La Salle. Amir Evans also contributed to the rushing game with 109 yards on the ground.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cardinals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Walsh has thrown for 1396 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Albert Roman has 34 catches for 387 yards. Jared Gonzales leads the league in rushing with 1125 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bishop Montgomery takes on Verbum Dei. The Knights are currently in second, while the Eagles are in fifth.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,405 from 11,571. The improvement came about via a 61-30 victory over the Cardinals last week.
