Baseball Recap: High Tech CV Takes a Loss

High Tech CV fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Mountain Empire on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Redhawks by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 back in April.

Andre Skiles put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sural Yegin was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. High Tech CV is 3-1 when Yegin posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

High Tech CV has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Mountain Empire, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, High Tech CV and Mountain Empire will both be playing Bonsall the next time they take the field. The Bruins will host the Legionnaires at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Redhawks will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
