Football Preview: Shadow Creek Sharks vs. Dawson Eagles

The Shadow Creek Sharks will venture away from home to square off against the Dawson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Creek will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Shadow Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 43-20 margin over Manvel on Friday. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Mavericks are ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joseph Stewart Jr. was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Jacorey Watson did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 60 receiving yards.

Shadow Creek's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 5.5 times. Giavani Baker was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sackshimself. Baker is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Dawson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 victory over the Mavericks.

Max Zavala went supernova for Dawson, throwing for 311 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 44 yards. 89 of those passing yards were hauled in by Nate Guillo.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Dawson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 277 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Dawson wouldn't let Pasadena Memorial keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Dawson can thank Bryson Flynn and Josiah Mcfarland for forcing both of them. Flynn also set a new season high mark in total tackles with four.

Shadow Creek's record is now 3-1. As for Dawson, their record is now 3-1.
