Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Salt Fork Storm

Oakwood and Salt Fork are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Comets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Oakwood took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 76-42 win over Iroquois West. With the Comets ahead 39-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Carsen Dudley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (four). Alex Wallace was another key player, putting up five points and ten assists.

Oakwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Salt Fork had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-45 victory over the Warriors.

Oakwood now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Salt Fork, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Oakwood beat Salt Fork 44-35 when the teams last played back in January. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Storm turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
