Basketball Recap: Evansville Memorial Comes Up Short

Evansville Memorial was the 66-58 winner over Castle when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Evansville Memorial Tigers were beaten by the Castle Knights 70-28 on Thursday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Castle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Scott, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 19 points. Scott is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Izabell Grantz, who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Evansville Memorial has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Castle, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Evansville Memorial Tigers challenge the Mt. Vernon Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Castle, they are taking a road trip to square off against Evansville Reitz at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
