Softball Recap: Richmond Wins Going Away Against Pinecrest

After losing to Pinecrest the last time they met, Richmond decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Raiders blew past the Patriots 15-2 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Richmond got a great performance from Madee Pearson as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Pearson has posted since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Robinson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Lockhart, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Richmond always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Richmond's record now sits at 6-8. As for Pinecrest, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond will host Jack Britt at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Pinecrest, they will take on Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
