Football Recap: Ahmontae Pitts Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Savannah Christian + How To Watch

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Blessed Trinity ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Savannah Christian Raiders 35-32. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Titans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Raiders are ranked 126th).

Blessed Trinity's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ahmontae Pitts led the charge by rushing for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. Pitts also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Titans are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Quinn Smith was another key receiver, picking up 114 receiving yards and two TDs.

Blessed Trinity didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Will Chastain. Another thorn in Savannah Christian's side was Lucas Smalls-Allen, who made 16 total tackles (6.0 for loss).

When it comes to explaining why Savannah Christian lost, don't look at Blaise Thomas. Despite the final result, he threw for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 67 yards.

Blessed Trinity's record is now 4-2. As for Savannah Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blessed Trinity will welcome Kell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Pitts and Moonie Gipson. As for Savannah Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Savannah Country Day at 7:30 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 814 yards in their previous games.
