Basketball Recap: Millville Comes Up Short

If Millville was riding high fresh off their 70-15 takedown of Juniata Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Millville Quakers and Columbia County Christian didn't end well, with the Millville Quakers falling 64-46. The Quakers were down 59-33 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Columbia County Christian found their leader in sophomore Pierce Cughan, who went 10 of 22 on his way to 30 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cughan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sharyf Conklin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Millville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Columbia County Christian, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Millville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-32 victory against Benton on the 11th. Columbia County Christian has also already played their next contest, a 56-15 win against Juniata Christian on the 10th.
