            Baseball Recap: Moniteau Warriors vs. Karns City Gremlins        
        
		
        
        
            Moniteau extended their losing streak  to four  on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-9 in the process. They were two  runs away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Karns City Gremlins. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  defeat the Warriors have suffered  against the Gremlins since May 3, 2021.
 Moniteau saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Beau Stewart, who  went 1-for-2 with one  RBI.
As for Karns City, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory they have posted  since May 10, 2024.
 On Karns City's side,  Jacob Jones made a splash no matter where he played. He  struck out 13 batters over  6.2 innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   four  hits (and only one walk). Jones has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and two  doubles. Those  two  doubles gave  him a new career-high.
 Coming up, Moniteau will challenge DuBois Central Catholic at 7:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three matchups. As for Karns City, they will square off against Redbank Valley at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Gremlins have won three straight at home, while the Bulldogs won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
