Basketball Recap: Calhoun Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Calhoun was the 75-53 winner over Central when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers took a 90-76 bruising from the Lions on Friday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Lions since Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Calhoun lost, don't look at Taylor Robertson. Despite the final result, he went 12-for-21 en route to 28 points and eight boards. Robertson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamel Mason, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards.

Leading Central to victory were Christian Lawrence and Amari Surles. Lawrence shot 42% from the field on his way to 36 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Surles went 12-for-27 to rack up 28 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Surles a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Daveon Pugh, who posted eight points and 13 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Calhoun and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Central, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Calhoun will venture away from home to square off against Keith at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central has already played their next matchup (against Southside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
