Softball Recap: Santa Fe Chiefs vs. South El Monte Eagles

Santa Fe was the 11-1 winner over South El Monte when they last played one another back in March of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Santa Fe Chiefs came up short against the South El Monte Eagles on Saturday, falling 11-5. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jordyn Bertram made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Munoz, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for South El Monte, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.

Santa Fe has already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Montebello on the 8th. As for South El Monte, they will square off against Downey at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Downey 2.9, South El Monte 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
