Baseball Recap: O'bannon Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

O'Bannon put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Amanda Elzy Panthers 14-7. The result was nothing new for the Greenwaves, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Mark Hollins and Kentravion Castion made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Hollins pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Castion struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Hollins went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Castion went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Castion a new career-high.

In other batting news, O'Bannon got a massive performance out of Jacorion Hanger, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Hanger is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Macon, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

O'Bannon's record is now 8-0. As for Amanda Elzy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. O'Bannon will venture away from home to square off against Humphreys County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amanda Elzy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Yazoo County at 5:00 p.m. on the 17th.
