Basketball Game Preview: Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines vs. Sandy Creek Cougars

Wilber-Clatonia and Sandy Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Wolverines will be home for the holidays to greet the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Wilber-Clatonia earned a 53-44 victory over Superior. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.

Jameson Conway produced another solid performance putting up 20 points and seven rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Crew Pulliam was another key player, going 6-for-15 on his way to 17 points.

Sandy Creek hadn't beaten Holdrege on the road since December 15, 2020 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for the Cougars in a 60-44 win over the Dusters.

Sandy Creek found their leader in sophomore Kamerin Sealey, who shot 67% from the field en route to 30 points and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sealey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Logan Tomky, who posted ten points.

Sandy Creek's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Wilber-Clatonia, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Wilber-Clatonia has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sandy Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
