Football Recap: Wellington's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Wellington had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They secured a 25-20 W over the Harmony Longhorns on Monday. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Longhorns are ranked 28th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wellington's defense made their presence known, laying out Martha Edwards. three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Lyan Hernandez. Rebecca Quintero got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win (which was Wellington's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.8 points over those games. As for Harmony, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Coming up, Wellington will be playing in front of their home fans against Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cobras will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight. Harmony does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
