Baseball Recap: Montclair Takes a Loss

Montclair had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-15 to make it four. They lost 7-1 to the Chino Cowboys. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 6-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Chino, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

For Chino's part, Grant Kuhns Vasquez and Caleb Carrillo did most of the damage at the plate: Kuhns Vasquez went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Carrillo got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Kuhns Vasquez a new career-high. Xiovany Ochoa was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

While Montclair had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
