Softball Game Preview: Mt. Zion Braves vs. Lincoln Railsplitters

The Mt. Zion Braves will square off against the Lincoln Railsplitters at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mt. Zion is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Tolono Unity on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Braves in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Lincoln owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Normal West with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Railsplitters.

Mt. Zion's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Mt. Zion came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Railsplitters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
