Recap: Dutch Fork Silver Foxes vs. Chapin Eagles
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 48-37 win over Chapin. Given Dutch Fork's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Chapin is ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Michaela Fairwell was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Antoinet Cheeseboro, who scored five points along with seven steals.
Chapin's loss came despite strong showings from Reagan Haggard and Sami Stephenson. Haggard scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks, while Stephenson scored four points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Dutch Fork has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Chapin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dutch Fork will take on River Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. River Bluff is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Chapin, they will be playing at home against White Knoll at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
