Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) beat Lakewood (Calif.) 39-0 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Iman Marshall to Pabico in the first quarter, the Jackrabbits led 33-0 at the half.
Long Beach Poly expanded its lead to 39 points entering the fourth quarter. LBP scored once in the quarter on a touchdown.
The Long Beach school scored 21 points in the first quarter on the way to a win. The Jackrabbits scored three touchdowns on passing plays during the quarter, boosted by two receptions by Pabico.
Pabico was the top performer for Long Beach Poly. The senior wide receiver caught three touchdowns.
LBP had given up an average of 11.6 points prior to the contest. Lakewood's zero points were well below their season average of 16.8 per game. Lakewood came in allowing just 13.8 points per game this season.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Long Beach school came away with a 42-3 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Lakewood, which notched a 46-0 victory over Compton in its previous outing. The loss broke Lakewood's two-game winning streak.
Lakewood (3-4) will play a Moore game against Cabrillo next week, while Long Beach Poly (7-1) will take on Millikan also in a Moore game.
