Baseball Recap: Upperman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Stone Memorial

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Upperman). They put the hurt on the Stone Memorial Panthers with a sharp 9-3 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Bees in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won six in a row.

Alec Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Carson Shupe and Chris Wirsing did most of the damage at the plate: Shupe went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Wirsing scored a run while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave Shupe a new career-high in hits. Rookie Allison also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Upperman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Upperman's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Stone Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upperman will take on Providence Christian Academy in a tournament on Thursday. As for Stone Memorial, they are taking a road trip to take on Cumberland County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
