Softball Recap: Strathmore Has No Trouble Against Wonderful College Prep Academy

While Strathmore didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Wonderful College Prep Academy Wolves 14-4 on Thursday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Anabelle Benavides and Avery Behrens did most of the damage at the plate: Benavides went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Behrens scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Behrens has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisabeth Ceballos, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Strathmore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matchups.

Strathmore pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Strathmore will be taking part in a tournament against Exeter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Exeter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Strathmore's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Woodlake at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
