Soccer Game Preview: Metro Tech vs. Fairfax

Metro Tech and Fairfax are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2019, but likely not for long. The Metro Tech Knights will challenge the Fairfax Stampede at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Metro Tech comes in on three and Fairfax on seven.

Last Wednesday, Metro Tech had just enough and edged North out 3-2. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Mustangs are ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Fairfax's game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. Everything went their way against Buckeye as Fairfax made off with a 4-1 victory. Considering the Stampede have won four contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Buckeye with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Nathan Sackor (2), Kevin Sonnah, and Salvador Ramirez Ojeda.

Metro Tech's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three games. As for Fairfax, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2-1.

Metro Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Fairfax when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Metro Tech repeat their success, or does Fairfax have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
