Football Recap: Wellington's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

Wellington strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Timnath Cubs by a score of 27-15. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cubs, too.

Wellington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tre Trujillo led the charge by rushing for 65 yards and one TD on only six carries. Those 65 rushing yards gave Trujillo a new career-high. Brayton Meglen was in the mix too, providing Wellington with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wellington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 235 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Wellington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Teagen Greiman and Tanner McLean. With that strong performance, Greiman is now averaging an impressive 6 total tackles per game.

Wellington's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Timnath, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Wellington will square off against Berthoud at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Timnath, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mead at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th.
