League recap: Highland edges Herriman in nail biter

4A Region 6 recap September 10, 2013

Highland and Herriman played the most contested game in 4A Region 6 this week, with Highland eventually emerging with a 7-3 victory.

Woods Cross took down Viewmont 41-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Bountiful's Jordan Hayes and Tanner Redding have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hayes has thrown for 217 yards this season, while Redding has 7 catches for 169 yards. Kelly Thorpe from Clearfield leads the league in rushing with 208 yards.

The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between East and the Wildcats. The Leopards enters the game ranked first in the state, while Woods Cross ranks 18th.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Braves' Redding goes up against the Falcons' Travis Gravely.

Next week's game between Bountiful and Clearfield will feature an aerial matchup as Hayes tests his arm against Gravely's defensive ability.

One of 4A Region 6's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Larry Wall's team and Will Hawes' team face off next week.

There should be lots of points scored when the Braves and the Falcons face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bountiful comes in having scored 56 this season, while Clearfield has scored 12. The Braves scored 3 points last week as they lost to Logan.

East led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on Jordan.
